Akobo Minerals names dr. Matt Jackson as Chief Operating Officer
Akobo Minerals today announced that Dr. Matt Jackson will join the company as Chief Operating Officer on the 1st of December. Matt was most recently a Director for Mining and Exploration with BluestoneGeo, where he worked on discovery and review of investment opportunities and liaison with partners in Europe and Asia. Matt was also responsible for liaison with target mining companies mostly in Africa but also in other regions. He has extensive experience from resource estimation, quality assurance, investment analysis and general exploration field work.
“Matt knows our company well from being our Competent Person for the last two years, and I am pleased to get him onboard full time.”, says Jørgen Evjen, CEO of Akobo Minerals. “He is complementing our team with his experience from QAQC and resource estimation, both much needed skills in the expansion of our exploration activity and future stock listing.”
“I am very excited to be joining the Akobo Minerals’ team,” said Matt Jackson. “I believe that the results from recent resource definition drilling at Segele and previous target generation in the wider license area places Akobo Minerals in an excellent position to move onto feasibility studies and further growth in the next few years. The established team in both Ethiopia and Norway have proved themselves to be highly capable and I look forward to working with them to develop this promising project.”
Matt has a wide commodity experience and has worked for some of the world’s largest companies (e.g. BHP Billiton) and consultancies (e.g. Golder Associates). He has presented at conferences worldwide, provided expert opinions for the courts and been invited to provide training for national industry associations. He is a Competent Person (JORC) and Qualified Person (NI 43-101) and a Chartered Professional Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
Matt is a geologist and trained to PhD and postdoctoral level in the UK (Cardiff University and the Royal Society).

About Akobo Minerals:
Akobo Minerals, a Norway-based gold exploration company, currently with ongoing exploration in the Akobo region in southwest Ethiopia through its wholly owned Ethiopian subsidiary Etno Mining Plc. The operations were established in 2009 by people with long experience from the public mining sector in Ethiopia and from the Norwegian oil service industry. Akobo Minerals holds an exploration license over key targets in the area. To date placer production and exploration work have outlined alluvial gold resources, and our team of geologists have worked extensively over the last 10 years to identify several potential primary gold targets. The drill program initiated at the end of 2019 has so far shown exceptionally high-grade gold results since drilling started in February this year.
